Traditional Crafts
Leather Tankards
Our leather tankards are individually handmade to a traditional pattern as found on the Mary Rose by Paul Bradley (known to many as Bardster). After sewing to completion with waxed linen thread each tankard is completely immersed in melted beeswax to seal the seams and coat the leather inside and out. The leather used is traditional veg tanned cowhide of approximately 1/8" thick.
You can order these in plain natural brown or you could have them embossed/carved with a design of your choice. Speak to us to discuss designs if you wish. Each tankard is individually handmade to order and can take up to a month to complete.

Paul Bradley aka Bardster
Paul is a consumate leather craftsman with a talent for historic crafts. As well as his leather crafts available from our store he has excellent green woodworking skills with pole lathe turning and spoon carving high on his list of favourite activities. He is to be found demonstrating his crafts with the Bushcraft Magazine team at various shows including the Wilderness Gathering and helping out at some of our craft courses
Bison Bushcraft Antler Needle Case
We've taken inspiration from The reindeer herders of Lapland and their
beautiful handicrafts to produce our own handcrafted storage case.
They are not just a needle case but are useful for storing small coins,
paper money, matches, fish hooks and line or any other valuables you'd like
to keep safe around your neck.
Each one of these cases is individually hand made by Roger from culled deer
antler, normally Red deer or Fallow. The stoppers in the ends are from local
hardwoods such as Elm or Apple. Roger makes the antler beads seen on the
adjustable leather neck chords.
The storage hole in the middle is nominally 19mm in diameter and the average
overall length is 100mm.
No two are alike due to the nature of the materials used.

Turboflame GX7 Military Lighter
The new Military, like the previous model Turboflame ® Original, is essential for any outdoor enthusiast's survival kit, but now with a new soft rubber body in military colours. Maya Sticks
The perfect accompaniment to the Storm Kettle. Naturally resinous pine split down to kindling size. Use one stick as a firelighter for the kettle and then add fuel. Resin being waterproof means a few shavings are easily ignited, even in the rain.

Frosts Drawknife
A lightweight two handled drawknife made by Frosts of Mora. Draw knives are generally used for cutting towards you, they are a good knife for stripping bark and making the preliminary shapes prior to turning wood on a pole lathe. Our drawknives are also a great aid in larger carving projects.

Opinel No12 Folding Saw
This pocketable little saw has more bite than its size would have you believe. It has a very aggressively toothed blade of 120mm made from high carbon tool steel and a handle of natural beech wood. The locking mechanism is Opinel’s famous twist lock. Each saw now comes with a hole for a lanyard. These saws can cope with tasks well above what you’d expect from them. I regularly use mine to cut green wood up to 100mm in diameter.

Opinel No8 Garden Knife
Opinel knives need no introduction. They are quite simply the best low cost folding knives around. The number 8 garden knife has a more appealing spear point blade than the traditional Opinel shape and a tapered beech wood handle. The blade is Sandvik stainless steel.

Mon Premier Opinel Knife
If your children are going to learn about knife safety and cutting edge awareness then we believe that these knives should be a step in that learning process. They are made by Opinel in France. Each knife has a solid beech wood handle, Opinel’s own safe twisting collar locking mechanism and the blade tip is rounded for safety. The lock has to be applied manually to lock the blade either open or closed therefore promoting awareness of the knife.

Spyderco 303MF Doublestuff
A sharpening stone suitable in size and weight for field use and yet perfectly adequate to use at home on a bench. This stone is made up of Spyderco's own & High alumina ceramic in fine and medium grades. This product is able to cut any metal known to man so is be able to cope with the high quality tool steels used on our knives and others. It measures 25mm x 127mm x 6.4mm and is supplied in it's own leather carry case.

Prismatic Compass
If you are as fanatical about correct navigation as we are, you’ll find this is one of the only compasses to give absolute accuracy. Developed from a long line of military artillery sighting compasses, this is the current issue British military marching and sighting compass issued to snipers and surveillance teams. Sleeping Bag
This 4-season-plus synthetic sleeping bags are designed around the simple concept of military sleeping bags.
They are made primarily for use as a UK winter bag, with the exceptional insulating properties of the 2x200gram synthetic filling meaning it can be used comfortably in temperatures as low as -20°.
We are very pleased with the fact that that the entire manufacture of this bag has been kept within the EU.
They are made for us by Yeti in Poland, who are contract makers for other prestigious brands.
Utilising a design originally found in military sleeping bags, the central-zip allows you to get in and out of the bag far easier than the more commonly found side-zip designs. This allows you to sit up comfortably while still inside the bag, making it possible to get dressed (or undressed) in stages, from within the comfort of your bag. There are two inside pockets to store your valuables etc at night.
