Bison Bushcraft Guide Shirt (New for 2008)

Working towards our ethical policy of supplying kit that is sourced closer to home we are proud to offer the Bison Bushcraft Guide Shirt as a direct replacement for the Swanndri ranger shirts that are now unavailable.

We have these shirts made to our own design here in The UK from 100% British wool. They are designed to be equally at home when worn as part of your layering system when in the wilderness or as an everyday garment for around town or home.

These shirts have a specifically designed colour scheme and fabric finish that blends in with nature without looking overtly camouflage or military when out of the woods.

We have chosen a “granddad “ style collar for comfort and a proper sewn hem on the bottom of the shirt allowing it to be worn outside or comfortably tucked inside your trousers. The shoulder yoke is made in two layers of material for wear and weather resistance. Each shirt has one chest pocket with the bison Bushcraft logo on it.

Bison Bushcraft Highland Shirt (Made to Order)

Our new Highland shirt is completely made within The British Isles utilising only the very finest materials available. These include Highland tweed that is renowned for its weather turning properties and it’s incredible natural camouflage attributes. The buttons are hand cut from red deer stag, the button loops natural leather and the yoke lining 100% wool.
There is a full sewn in gusset behind the collar buttons to keep the weather at bay The shirts are hemmed to allow you the freedom of wearing them inside or outside your trousers or Kilt.

Bison Bushcraft Lowland Shirt (Made to Order)
Simply the lowland version of our popular Highland shirt. Made to the same standards and designs of the Highland shirt but with a pattern to suit the more wooded lowland areas, and a slightly lighter weight fabric for the more sheltered weather conditions. We’ve already found this to be a perfect woodland stalking shirt.

Each shirt is hand made to order and subject to a wait of around six weeks, we’ll need your normal chest measurement taken over a tee shirt for your size. Be sure and get it right as we cannot exchange or refund garments made to measurements supplied by customers.

Lowland Hooded Smock (New April 2008)

From our natural Lowland tweed we’ve created this exquisite smock. Packed full of design features for colder times or evenings out by the fire whilst retaining the natural camouflage and weather turning capabilities of Highland tweeds.
The hood, body and kangaroo pocket of the smock are lined with luxurious cashmere. The front ‘kangaroo’ pocket serves two purposes. One as a ‘dump’ pocket and two with it’s separate lining of cashmere as a hand warmer pocket. The smock has a very deep hood to hide behind in truly foul weather and a tweed storm gusset to the front opening.
All fastenings are leather loop button holes over Red Deer Stag antler buttons, including the flap fastening over the external breast pocket. The trim to the hood, cuffs and kangaroo pocket is cut from the finest goatskin chosen for it’s strength and luxurious softness.

Ventile Smock
Our own adaptation of the 1963 pattern SAS smock hand made in Ventile natural cotton, wind and waterproof fabric. The smock has a full zip to the front with double baffles behind (that’s four layers of Ventile). The absence of Velcro, popstuds and petro chemical coatings enable stealth to be maintained even when accessing pockets.

The smock is excellent for winter use in conjuction with a wool shirt, jumper or fleece & lightweight enough to be used as a bush shirt in summer or the tropics. The tightness of the weave makes the smock impervious to insect bites.

Bison Bushcraft Boots
After years of searching for the perfect lightweight boot, we've decided to make our own.
Although simple looking these boots are packed full of design features that make them the perfect footwear for stalking and mooching through the woods during summer.
They are hand made in England for us, and made foot shaped rather than modern shoe shaped. The tongues are sewn in to prevent the ingress of grit and stones. There is no man made lining, it's all leather, therefore the odour problems associated with synthetic liners should not occur.
We've chosen a very flexible flat Vibram sole unit backed with a thin layer of high density foam that allows you to feel the ground whilst being protected from it. Of course the soles are replaceable, so there's plenty of life in these boots.
They are flexible enough to pack up flat like sandals, so carrying them as spare footwear is possible.
